Selling Privately - FSBO - No Agent - what does it mean?
What happens when you want to sell your car?
You have a choice: you can deal with a car salesman who is going to try and also make a profit on your car, or you can advertise the car yourself and sell it privately.
With the emergence of popular websites such as ebay and the trading post, you can sell anything you want yourself for a relatively small advertising fee.
So why can't this apply to Real Estate?
For some reason, many people have a hard time disassociating buying and selling real estate with real estate agents. The truth is, with the power of the internet and your first hand knowledge of your own house, there is absolutely nothing an agent can do that you can't.
These days you can reach an infinite number of people via the internet. You're an intelligent person, you can purchase or make a 'For Sale' sign, organise newspaper advertising and when someone calls or emails you, you can answer all their questions NOW, because no-one knows your house better than you.
The propect of "doing it yourself" when it comes to selling your most valuable asset can seem daunting, but the reality is, with a little bit of research and time, you are in a perfect position to sell your home and save a significant amount of money in the process.
